In an attempt to make my life easier later on, I expect Bida to complete as many "chores" as possible. I'm still figuring out what all I should be able to expect from her right now but one activity she seems to like doing is putting her laundry in the washing machine. She runs off to grab her step stool and then to her room to grab her "laundry basket."
We're using a small, mesh trash basket and it works fine because it's not too deep and is lightweight but if I were doing it again I would make sure to get something with handles. I would also recommend not getting anything taller than about 10-12 inches for ease of carrying and to prevent the basket from getting too heavy.
Anyways, I think this is a successful, age appropriate chore and she probably would have been capable of doing it for a few months but I just never thought to involve her in laundry until recently. Just remember to ask your child to put the step stool and basket back after she/he is done dumping the clothes into the water because there is no need for them to only half help!
What do you need? Just a step stool and a small basket with handles. Want to get fancy? Montessori washing clothes activity set.

HDBD
Did I forget to mention that we're adding one more to our group in April? Well, we are. So I'm currently 14 weeks, 5 days pregnant and I looked back at my old blog from when I was pregnant with Bida and I really want to take these weekly photos again!
(for reference this was my photo with Bida)
